Description and Requirements

The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer role is a key enabler of the Healthfirst cloud transformation strategy. This role will deploy and manage enterprise solutions in both Public and Private Cloud, while also developing tools to automate system deployment and configuration management tasks. The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer works collaboratively with a team of other Engineers, while also being able to work autonomously to create solutions. This role works with diverse technologies to build tools and automation to eliminate manual operations and create reliable and repeatable orchestration. The Cloud Systems team is responsible for establishing standards of usage across our Public and Private cloud footprint. This team works with other engineers to identify efficiency opportunities, eliminate waste, and improve the resiliency of our infrastructure platforms, while working with application development teams to support continuous delivery of new capabilities

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Work as a member of the cloud systems engineering team
  • Develop Automated capabilities to deliver capabilities more efficiently
  • Drive solutions to problems impacting mission critical systems and implement automation to prevent reoccurrence
  • Execute changes on production systems whenever necessary
  • Work in Center of Excellence for Cloud Usage, and Cloud Development Standards
  • Work closely with other development and operations team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into automated solutions
  • Maintain an accurate picture of existing server, storage, networking software and hardware and virtual environments to support scaling against various project requirements
  • Ensure all usage of Cloud Environments meets Governance standards and contribute to improving standards for security and operational efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED from accreted institution
  • 3-5 years’ experience in designing, building, and managing Linux/Unix-based and/or Windows systems
  • AWS/GCP/Nutanix Certification in Development, Architecture, and/or DevOps or equivalent work experience
  • Deep understanding of Core Cloud Competencies (Virtualization, DNS, Access Control, Environment Management)
  • Proficient with scripting in at least one of the following languages: BASH, Python, Ruby, PowerShell
  • Good verbal & written communication skills with ability to document implementations using MS-Word, Excel and Visio for presentations in PowerPoint or similar tools
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment and effectively collaborates across teams and organizations
  • Strength in developing green-field technology mastery through a mixture of experimentation and guided learning
  • HS Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience being a part of a Cloud Center of Excellence and driving business innovation
  • Experience implementing Cloud Services with an Infrastructure as code methodology using Cloudformation, Ansible, or Terraform
  • Experience supporting Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD integration
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Security best practices, and implementing a least privileged model of access in AWS
  • Deep troubleshooting skills that involve analysis of logs, traffic trace, configuration data, automation tools to resolve issues until end-to-end systems are functioning
  • Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker
  • Experience working with Development teams to create Cloud-Native applications
  • Experience with system health monitoring and optimizing performance (CloudWatch, New Relic, Solarwinds, Extrahop and CloudTrail)
  • Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $129,900 - $187,680

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $114,400 - $170,170

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
