Description and Requirements

The IT Early Career Development Program at Healthfirst is a 2-year full-time experience developed for college graduates with a real passion for a future in technology. This is an immersive and rigorous program, that lays the foundation for continued leadership development in IT. Program participants will do impactful work collaborating with Healthfirst employees, and business leaders to solve business problems and deliver solutions. Healthfirst offers a comprehensive curriculum built into the program which includes on the job, virtual and in-classroom training focusing on technical and professional skill advancement. Associates will be coached and mentored by industry leaders, who serve as IT Program Champions for the duration of the program.
  • Team Descriptions:

    There are two distinct program paths – Technical and Business. Individuals are aligned to a path and a role within one of the following participating teams for the entire duration of the program based on their technical skills and interests. IT Associates will have the opportunity to leverage their existing technical skills and further develop the skills listed under each team environment.  

  • Claims - Systems and solutions in place for the payment of claims to providers who render care to Healthfirst members. This program ensures the transactions are managed in a timely, efficient, and appropriate manner. Associates will be trained in PEGA and MuleSoft.
    Technical Requirements: Computer Science degree; SQL; Object Oriented Programming
  • Clinical - Systems, solutions, and healthcare programs are in place to ensure that members utilize and obtain appropriate medical and healthcare services, which fosters the health and wellness of the member. Associates will be trained in MuleSoft, PEGA, and Informatica.
    Technical Requirements: Computer Science degree; SQL
  • E&B - The Enrollment & Billing program ensures that the systems and solutions are in place to facilitate the enrollment of members into an appropriate health insurance plan, and that they receive accurate and timely bills for premium payments. Associates will be trained in PEGA and MuleSoft.
    Technical Requirements: Java and Object-Oriented Programming
  • CDE - The Customer Digital Experience program ensures that systems and solutions are in place to foster digital member engagement with Healthfirst across the Customer Call Center, Mobile Experience and Customer Engagement platforms. Associates will be trained in Salesforce, Application Development and Software Engineering
    Technical Requirements: Computer Science degree; Full-stack development; Java
  • CBT - The Corporate Business Technology program ensures that the systems, tools, and solutions are in place for the Healthfirst workforce. Associates will be trained in Access, AWS, Qliksense, Tableau and Agile Methodology.
    Technical Requirements: Office 365; Data Analytics; Coding with Computer Science fundamentals
  • DPC - The Digital Provider Collaboration program ensures that the systems, tools, and solutions are in place to engage and facilitate provider engagement with Healthfirst. Associates will be trained in AWS, Java and Tableau.
    Technical Requirements: Java or any programming language; SQL; MS Office
  • PDM - The Provider Data Management program ensures that the systems, tools, and solutions are in place to ensure accurate provider information utilized by all Healthfirst systems. Associates will be trained in PEGA, AWS, Python, and Mulesoft.
    Technical Requirements: React JS; Python; SQL
  • SPAM - The Sales, Product, and Marketing program ensures that Healthfirst can offer a variety of health insurance plans, and market and sell those insurance plans in the NY state marketplace. Associates will be trained in Salesforce and Web Development
    Technical Requirements: HTML; CSS; Javascript; PHP; Python
  • EC - Enterprise Correspondence program ensures that Healthfirst has digital correspondence business capabilities that includes correspondence lifecycles management.  Associates will be trained in Alfresco – Spring Boot, AWS, DevOps, L, Rest APIs
    Technical Requirements: Object Oriented Programming; SQL; React
  • IM - Information Management program is responsible for maintaining the HF data assets from HF systems and ensuring that data from all HF systems can be extracted, transformed, transmitted, and shared with various HF consumers. Associates will be trained in data engineering, technical analysis, and AWS.
    Technical Requirements: SQL; ETL; Technical Writing
  • QA - The Quality Assurance Program is responsible for ensuring that quality assurance software testing is performed on and for any system or system change that is delivered to the enterprise enabling secure, scalable, accessible, and performing systems free of defects. Associates will be trained in quality engineering.
    Technical Requirements: Java; SQL; MS Office
  • I&O - The Infrastructure and Operations Program enables the IT Programs.  I&O is responsible for Infrastructure Architecture, Engineering and Operations across the Cloud Platform, Workplace Platform, and the IT Operations Center. Associates will be trained in systems administration.
    Technical Requirements: Zoom video conferencing, mobile devices Android/Apple, Service Now, Macintosh and PC hardware, software, and operating systems

Program Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Undergraduate students must have graduated within 12 months of the program in a Computer Science or technology related degree. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated in Computer Science or technology related degree within 12 months of the program. Will not require sponsorship for employment Eligible to work in the U.S. Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited institution NY Hybrid role – must be able to commute to the office as needed

Knowledge of project management concepts Passion for solving challenging problems Possess technical curiosity and the desire to learn new things quickly  Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain attention to detail  Very strong verbal and written communication skills required  Ability to work independently and as part of a team  Excellent influencing and negotiation skills

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $61,600 - $83,810

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $54,900 - $81,685

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.

*The hiring range is defined as the lowest and highest salaries that Healthfirst in “good faith” would pay to a new hire, or for a job promotion, or transfer into this role.
