Description and Requirements

The Actuarial Analyst for Valuations is responsible for assisting in performing valuations, producing IBNR models, analyzing experience, preparing trend reports, and assisting with other tasks on both a regular and ad hoc basis

Construct monthly IBNR models using paid claim and membership data. Run, modify, and create data queries to produce supplemental reports. Initiate, oversee, and verify information exchanges between actuarial models and Data Warehouse. Produce and maintain trend reports. Modify or add models as needed for changing business needs. Work on data incorporated into high level corporate reporting and monitor experience of all lines of business. Provide other data analysis as required by management. Additional duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Math - Actuarial work experience within a managed care, health insurance organization- Advanced SAS or SQL programming skills- Passed 1 to 2 Actuarial Exams- Basic knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)- Experience with MS Access- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of data structures and resolve problems.- Work experience to include prioritizing a heavy workload in a fast paced environment.- Work experience to include communication and consultation with internal staff, auditors and external contacts.- Work experience to include working with and communicating technical information to multiple levels of technical and nontechnical staff.-

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $67,200 - $97,155

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $59,800 - $88,910

    As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
